The rules, in the same plain words as everything else here.

PlantedBy is operated by Cache Holding ApS, a company registered in Denmark under CVR number 45988937 (the operator, we, us). Contact: hello@plantedby.co.

You are buying trees planted on your behalf. We purchase them from Ecologi under our own Ecologi account, as the merchant of record, and deliver them to you together with a link to Ecologi’s public receipt for that planting.

Your company is then listed on the public board at https://plantedby.co, showing its name, logo, verified domain and tree count next to that receipt link. The listing is included at no extra charge. It is not sold separately, it is not advertising space, and its position is determined by trees funded rather than by anything you pay for.

This is a commercial purchase of goods and services, not a donation and not a charitable gift. We are not a charity or a nonprofit. Nothing you pay is tax-deductible as a charitable contribution, and no gift receipt is issued. Your own tax treatment of the purchase is your responsibility.

PlantedBy sells to businesses only. To buy you must verify control of a company email domain, and by doing so you confirm that you are authorised to act for that company and to display its name and logo.

We do not sell to consumers. Free and disposable email domains are refused at sign-in.

Prices are shown and charged in US dollars, because Ecologi prices trees in US dollars. Your bank may apply its own conversion.

All prices are exclusive of VAT. Where VAT is due it is added at checkout and shown separately. VAT is not spent on trees — it is collected on behalf of the tax authority — so the tree count is always calculated from the price before VAT.

The tree count shown at checkout is an estimate. Card processing fees vary by card and are not known until after payment, so the estimate assumes the worst-case fee. After your payment settles we recompute the count from the amount that actually reached us and buy that many trees. The final number is therefore never lower than the number you were quoted, and is frequently higher.

The operator takes no commission, margin or platform fee. Every cent that survives card processing and tax is spent on trees.

Trees, once bought, are planted by a third party and cannot be returned. Refunds therefore depend entirely on how far your order has progressed:

• Before the trees are bought. If your payment has been taken but the Ecologi purchase has not yet completed, email hello@plantedby.co from the address you paid with and we will refund you in full.
• If the Ecologi purchase fails. No trees are bought and no listing appears. Some failures are temporary and the purchase completes on a later automatic retry, so we do not refund the moment one attempt fails. If it has not completed within 5 business days, email us and we will refund you in full.
• Once the trees are planted. The purchase is final and non-refundable. At this point the money has left us, the trees exist, and a public receipt has been issued in your company’s name.

Because PlantedBy sells only to businesses, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers under Danish and EU distance-selling law does not apply to these purchases.

We buy trees on your behalf through Ecologi, an independent third party. Ecologi selects the planting projects, carries out the planting and issues the receipt. We do not plant trees ourselves and we do not control Ecologi’s operations, timelines or project choices.

What we guarantee is the transaction: that your payment was spent on the stated number of trees, and that the receipt we link to is the real one. We make no warranty about Ecologi’s own performance, and claims about planting outcomes are Ecologi’s to answer.

By buying you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display your company name, logo and verified domain on PlantedBy and in material about PlantedBy, for as long as your listing stands. You confirm you have the right to grant this.

You may ask us to remove your logo or change your display name at any time. Ecologi receipts are issued by Ecologi and are outside our control.

Rankings reflect trees funded through PlantedBy and nothing else. No position on the board is for sale. If we later sell advertising elsewhere on the site, it will be labelled as advertising and kept off the board, so that a rank never means anything other than trees paid for. We may correct, re-order or remove entries where a payment is reversed, a listing was obtained by misrepresentation, or a listing would be misleading.

We may refuse or withdraw a listing at our discretion — including where a company impersonates another, or where association would damage the service. Where we withdraw a listing for a payment already spent on trees, the trees remain planted and the payment remains non-refundable. Withdrawing a listing does not entitle you to a refund of trees already planted, because the trees — not the listing — are what you bought.

PlantedBy is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue the service. If we discontinue it, existing Ecologi receipts remain valid and verifiable on Ecologi’s own site, which is the point of publishing them there.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business or reputational harm.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Danish law.

We may update these terms. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published when you paid, and the date at the top of this page is part of that record.

These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts, with the City Court of Copenhagen as the court of first instance.
